In Elegance & Wildness, In Nomine Ensemble explores the musical intersections where Georg Philipp Telemann’s works engage with the refined elegance of French Baroque style and the spirited, untamed energy of Eastern Europe. The program reflects Telemann’s time in Paris and his exposure to the French Baroque tradition, influenced by his interactions with French composers while maintaining his distinctive voice. Following the Nouveaux quatuors, selected pieces from the Uhrovska Collection (1730) will be heard, alongside his Trio Sonata in D minor, which reveals his fascination with Eastern European folk traditions.
In Nomine Ensemble is an NYC-based early music ensemble. In Nomine, which translates from Latin to “in the name of,” explores familiar and lesser-known Renaissance and Baroque works with an attitude of play and curiosity. They challenge the traditional Baroque trio sonata with their unique instrumentation and backgrounds while performing on historically accurate instruments and styles. In Nomine Ensemble has received support from The Juilliard School, Gotham Early Music Scene, and Silentwoods Collective. They are also featured artists with Sacred Music at Columbia University, The Bohemians Musician Club NYC, Off the Dock Chamber Festival. They have participated in Les Arts Florissants artist residency program and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute residency program.
